MINUTES OF THE MEETING – 7/17/03
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 pm by Vice-President Don Hagopian, with 45 people present. Again Rocky’s donated their banquet room for our meeting.
Don Hagopian announced that the Fly-Out destination was changed from Tehachapi to Oceano.
He then introduced Roger Klohr, from the anti-terrorist division of the LAPD. He talked about a pilot at Santa Paula who was inquiring about purchasing a twin airplane and wanted a test ride. It was obvious right away that the man didn’t know how to fly that well even taxiing was a problem. He then took off and landed at Van Nuys and disappeared after touch down.
Mr. Klohr wanted us all to be aware of suspected terrorist activity, even at small airports. Don’t sublet a hangar to anyone that you don’t know, be aware that terrorists pick anniversary dates to do their deeds, and be aware of any suspicious people or activity in or around the airport and report that activity to 877-284-7328.
Then he introduced the manager at
WHP, John Frymyer, who updated us on what was happening.
The following is a list of things
discussed.
1. Nine security cameras are being
installed around the airport.
2. The two auxiliary gates will
be closed after 8pm
3. 139 DashCards have already been
issued
4. Remote doorbells for the FBO’s
have not been installed yet, by the county
5. A list of eviction criteria
has been distributed (copy on the website)
6. If there is illegal activity
on the airport, please call Foothill Division of LAPD at 818-994-5273 or
call the fuel guys at 818-262-1313.
7. There are new landscaping projects
in the works as well as ongoing improvements.
John Frymyer then took a few questions
from the audience.
Next, Board member Thom Polizzi announced that someone on the airport was being evicted, so they wanted to meet with Kris Thabit and John Frymyer to find out what the eviction criteria was. He then read the list (posted on website)
Don Hagopian announced that our next regular membership meeting would be Thursday, Aug 21, at 7pm. There will be nominations for Officers.
Vice-President, Don Hagopian
